    Program notes

UCF's night. Scott Frost's Knights had never beaten an AP top-five team. Quarterback Keyone Jenkins threw for 293 yards and three touchdowns, and the defense held a BYU run game that averaged nearly 224 yards a game to 116. BYU's Bear Bachmeier passed for 257 yards with two scores, but his last throw, on fourth-and-goal from the 4 in the second overtime, could not be pulled in by Walker Lyons.

Cincinnati ran through a wall. Texas Tech arrived with one of the country's stingiest run defenses and had not allowed a rushing touchdown. Cole Tabb ran for a career-high 173 yards on 16 carries, including a 58-yard score with 6:06 left, and JC French threw a career-best four touchdown passes. It was the Bearcats' highest-ranked home win since beating No. 7 Rutgers in 2006.

Columbia comeback. Tennessee jumped out 14–0 and led 24–17 in the fourth quarter. LaNorris Sellers tied it with a touchdown run on third-and-4, then South Carolina recovered a George MacIntyre fumble with 33 seconds left. Malik Orsen hit from 48 yards with three seconds to go.

Floyd goes north. Minnesota gained just 209 yards, its fewest of the season, and still took the Floyd of Rosedale trophy. Drake Lindsey's 39-yard third-down throw to Jalen Smith set up Luke Drzewiecki's 46-yard kick as time expired.

Indiana's slog. The defending national champions kept Michigan out of the end zone for the whole game and sacked Tommy Carr repeatedly. Michigan forced overtime with a field goal at the gun, but Josh Hoover hit Brock Schott for 21 yards on the first snap and ran in from the 4. Curt Cignetti's team is 7–1.

Utah stays perfect. Devon Dampier ran for 150 yards and two scores. The decisive moment came with 2:15 left, when Jackson Bennee sacked Conner Weigman and Jireh Moe recovered at the Houston 9; Dampier scrambled in on the next snap. The Utes are 7–0 with the longest active winning streak in the country, 13 games.

Texas, the hard way. The Longhorns led 24–3, gave up 21 straight points, and still beat Ole Miss 34–27. Arch Manning threw for 212 yards and accounted for three touchdowns; Raleek Brown ran for 157.

Alabama's skid ends. Texas A&M led 20–17 entering the fourth, then Marcel Reed fumbled on fourth-and-1. Keelon Russell finished with 311 yards and three touchdown passes, and Rico Scott caught six balls for 156 yards.
